Which Florida counties are the smallest and quietest?

Nine of Florida's 67 counties have fewer than 16,000 residents, and all but one are in North Florida, the Panhandle and the Big Bend; the exception is Glades, on the west side of Lake Okeechobee.

Liberty is the smallest, with fewer than 8,000 people, followed by Lafayette, Franklin, Glades, Calhoun, Hamilton, Jefferson, Gulf and Union. These are counties of small county seats, farms, forest and river, where a hospital, a large grocery store or an airport can be a long drive. Franklin and Gulf are the coastal ones, around Apalachicola, Carrabelle and St. George Island, and Port St. Joe and Mexico Beach, and their coast puts their home prices above $400,000, well over the rest. Inland it is the other way: Hamilton and Calhoun are among the lowest-priced counties in the state. Before you commit, check the broadband at the address, the drive to medical care, and the county's hurricane evacuation plan.

How do I get a medical marijuana card in Florida?

You need a Florida doctor's certification first, then the state's card. A qualified physician examines you, in person the first time, and if you have a qualifying condition enters a certification in the state's Medical Marijuana Use Registry; later visits may be by telehealth.
