How do I get a medical marijuana card in Florida?

You need a Florida doctor's certification first, then the state's card. A qualified physician examines you, in person the first time, and if you have a qualifying condition enters a certification in the state's Medical Marijuana Use Registry; later visits may be by telehealth.

The conditions the law names are cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV, AIDS, post-traumatic stress disorder, ALS, Crohn's disease, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis, along with conditions of the same kind, a terminal condition, and chronic pain caused by one of those conditions. You then apply for the card through the registry, online or by mail, with a $75 fee. The card expires one year after it is approved, and you renew it every year, applying no earlier than 45 days before it runs out; the physician has to see you again at least every 30 weeks. The card is for Florida residents. A seasonal resident - someone who lives in Florida at least 31 days in a row each year - can qualify without a Florida driver license by showing two documents, such as a deed or mortgage and a utility bill less than two months old. Florida does not accept medical cards from other states.
