How do I move my Medicare to Florida?

Original Medicare comes with you: you can see any doctor or hospital that takes Medicare, anywhere in the U.S., so there is nothing to move.

A Medicare Advantage plan or a separate Medicare drug plan is different. Each is sold for its own service area, and in many cases an Advantage plan covers only the doctors in its network. Moving out of your plan's service area gives you a Special Enrollment Period to switch to a Medicare Advantage plan or drug plan offered where you now live. If you tell your plan before you move, your chance to switch begins the month before the month you move and continues for 2 full months after you move. If you tell it later, the chance begins when you move and still runs 2 full months after. If you do not join a new Medicare Advantage plan in that time, you are enrolled in Original Medicare when the old plan drops you. SHINE, the state's free Medicare counseling program, will go through the choice with you one on one: 1-800-963-5337.
