Robert K. Rees Memorial Park

Pasco County · Gulf Coast

Forty-five acres at Green Key in New Port Richey, the main public beach on the Pasco coast and a known place to watch the sun go down.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

Most people call it Green Key Beach after the road that reaches it, at 3503 Green Key Road in New Port Richey. It covers 45 acres of low coastal ground at the end of a residential stretch, and it is the closest thing to a proper public beach that Pasco County has. There is a marked swim area, an observation deck, a boardwalk through the mangroves and a playground. Canoe and kayak launches give access to the shallow Gulf and the grass flats behind the key, which is water better suited to paddling than to swimming out. Picnic shelters, restrooms and an outdoor shower are on site. The sand is not the deep white powder of Pinellas or Sarasota; this is a natural shoreline of shell and sea grass with the water coming in shallow over it. The west-facing position makes it a standing local spot for sunset. Open seven days a week, sunrise to sunset
