ABOUT THIS PLACE

SeaWorld Orlando opened on December 15, 1973, and covers about 200 acres. United Parks and Resorts owns it. The park has gone further toward rides than its name suggests and now runs eight coasters. Mako is a 200-foot hypercoaster. Manta is a flying coaster with four inversions. Kraken is floorless with seven. Ice Breaker, which opened in 2022, has the steepest drop of any coaster in Florida, and Pipeline, the Surf Coaster, from 2023, stands riders up on hydraulic seats. The animal side covers dolphins, sea lions, penguins, sharks, rays, manatees and sea turtles. The park also runs the SeaWorld Coral Rescue Center, the largest public-facing coral conservation facility in the country, and takes part in rescue work on stranded and injured marine animals along the Florida coast. Orca shows and the company's orca programs have drawn sustained public criticism and legal attention over the years, and the company ended orca breeding in 2016
