THEME PARK & ENTERTAINMENT

Aquatica Orlando

Orange County · Central Florida

A 59-acre water park across from SeaWorld, opened in 2008, with two wave pools sharing one long white-sand beach.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

Aquatica opened on March 1, 2008, as SeaWorld Orlando's water park and is owned by the same company. It covers 59 acres. The centerpiece is a pair of wave pools, Cutback Cove and Big Surf Shores, that share an artificial white-sand beach of about 80,000 square feet, laid out with chairs, sun beds and umbrellas, so a family can take a base there for the day and send people off to the slides. The slide list runs to Ihu's Breakaway Falls, a set of drop capsules that open under the rider's feet, Taumata Racer, Walhalla Wave, Whanau Way and Ray Rush. Reef Plunge, rebuilt in 2022 from what was Dolphin Plunge, sends two enclosed body slides through a pool holding Commerson's dolphins, so a rider passes them at speed rather than watching from a rail. Turi's Kid Cove and Walkabout Waters are the shallow areas built for small children. Roughly 950,000 people came in the first year, and it has ranked among the more visited water parks in the country since
