THEME PARK & ENTERTAINMENT
Universal Studios Florida
Orange County · Central Florida
The first Universal Orlando park, open since 1990, built around film and television sets and rides drawn from them.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
Universal Studios Florida opened on June 7, 1990, the first of what is now four parks at Universal Orlando. Like Disney's studio park it was meant to be a working production facility as well as an attraction, and for a few years it was, but production moved away by the middle of the 1990s and the park turned fully to rides. Eight themed areas ring a central lagoon: Minion Land, New York, San Francisco, London and Diagon Alley, World Expo, Springfield, DreamWorks Land and Hollywood. Diagon Alley holds Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, and the Hogwarts Express runs from here to the Hogsmeade section in the next park, which means a two-park ticket to ride it both ways. Revenge of the Mummy, Transformers: The Ride 3-D and E.T. Adventure are the other long-standing rides, and E.T. is the last of its kind anywhere. Halloween Horror Nights takes over the park on selected fall nights with haunted houses and scare zones
