ABOUT THIS PLACE

The trail runs 23 miles inside Seminole County, and 34 counting the extension into Orange County. Much of it follows the right of way of the Sanford and Indian River Railroad between Winter Springs and Oviedo. The first section opened in 2002 and the route has been stitched together since: an overpass over State Road 434 in 2007, another over US 17 and 92 in 2010 linking Spring Hammock Preserve with Big Tree Park, and a project in 2021 closing the last six tenths of a mile near Winter Springs. From Aloma and Howell Branch in Winter Park it works north through Oviedo and Winter Springs, then on toward Lake Mary and Sanford near Lake Monroe. It meets the Cady Way Trail, joins the Seminole Wekiva Trail and runs into the Sanford RiverWalk, which means a rider can cross most of the county without touching a road. The surface is asphalt throughout and mostly flat
