FLORIDA PLACE TO EXPLORE
WonderWorks Orlando
Orange County · Central Florida
The upside-down building on International Drive, holding six zones of hands-on science exhibits, a ropes course and laser tag.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
WonderWorks opened in Orlando on March 3, 1998, and the building is the advertisement. Terry O. Nichoson designed it to look as though a laboratory had been torn off its foundations and dropped on its roof, and the story the attraction tells is that Professor Wonder's secret lab on an island in the Bermuda Triangle was picked up by a failed tornado experiment and carried here. Inside, everything is hands-on across six zones. Natural Disasters holds a Tesla coil, an earthquake cafe and a hurricane shack that blows at storm speed. Physical Challenge has a bed of nails and a bubble lab. Light and Sound has a giant floor piano and a speed-of-light room. Space Discovery has a spacesuit replica and a ride simulator. Imagination Lab covers forensic science, and the Far-Out Art Gallery is built on optical illusions. An indoor ropes course runs above the exhibit floor, and there is laser tag. The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show plays upstairs in the evenings on its own ticket
