A hundred thousand square feet on two floors at 6800 Mahan Drive, holding more than a hundred and sixty cars and a great deal else besides.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

DeVoe Moore opened it in May 1996 with fifteen vehicles and moved it into the present building, three times the size of the first one, in 2007. The cars run from a Snell of 1900 to a Camaro of 2010, and they are laid out as objects to look at rather than as a chronological lesson. Among them are three Batmobiles used in the films and the television series, and a horse-drawn hearse reported to have carried Abraham Lincoln. The collecting did not stop at cars. There is one of the largest holdings of Case knives in the country, outboard motors going back to 1908, Florida fishing lures, adding machines, cash registers, and a group of Steinway pianos that Steinway itself has called the finest private collection of their instruments anywhere. Allow longer than you think: most visitors come for the cars and spend half their time on the cabinets. It is a private museum and charges admission
