PARKS & OUTDOORS
R.O. Ranch Equestrian Park
Lafayette County · North Florida & First Coast
An equestrian park eleven miles south of Mayo on State Road 51, built for people who arrive with horses.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
The main entrance is at 10807 South State Road 51. More than twenty-five miles of trail run through it, flat and easy, and wide enough that wagons and carts can use them as well as riders, which is unusual and is the reason carriage drivers come here. The campground has thirty-two units, pull-through sites with panel stalls, a picnic table and a fire ring or grill at each one, so a horse and a trailer and a family fit on a single site. There is a bath house and a laundry. A lodge house of three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms can be rented by a group. Horses can be kept overnight and there is trailer parking, with full-facility and primitive camping both available. It is a fee area. Cell service is poor once you leave the main highway. The park has been listed as temporarily closed, so telephone 386-294-1475 before hitching up and driving out
