What Florida driving laws should I know?

Move over: on a road with two or more lanes going your way, when you come up on a stopped emergency vehicle, sanitation truck, utility service vehicle or wrecker, or a disabled vehicle showing hazard lights, flares or signs or with people standing by it, you must leave the lane next to it.

If you cannot do that safely, slow to 20 mph below the posted limit, or to 5 mph where the limit is 20 or less. Breaking it is a moving violation.

Phones: you may not hold a phone while driving through a school crossing, a school zone, or a work zone where workers are present or equipment is running; hands-free is allowed, and a ticket carries 3 points. Texting while driving is banned on every road, though using the phone to navigate is allowed and a car that is stationary is not being driven.

Headlights must be on from sunset to sunrise, including twilight, and during any rain, smoke or fog. Do not stay in the far left lane when you know a faster car is coming up behind you, unless you are passing or about to turn left. Stop for a school bus showing its stop signal, and stay stopped until the signal is withdrawn; on a divided highway with an unpaved space of at least 5 feet, a raised median or a physical barrier, traffic on the other side does not stop. Passing a stopped school bus on the side where children get on and off brings a mandatory court hearing.

Florida has had no emissions test since the state repealed it in 2000. A car brought from another state gets its vehicle identification number checked when it is titled here, and police may inspect a vehicle they have reason to believe is unsafe.
