Lighthouse Point Park
Volusia County · Atlantic Coast
Fifty-two acres on the north shore of Ponce de Leon Inlet at 5000 South Atlantic Avenue.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
A jetty runs eight hundred feet out along the inlet with a walking deck on it, and from the end you are level with the boats going in and out. Elevated wooden boardwalks cross the dunes and the scrub behind the beach. An observation tower stands back in the wooded part with a view over the Halifax River. The inlet shoreline has a swimming beach where leashed dogs are allowed in the water; dogs are not permitted on the Atlantic beach at all, and they are kept off the elevated boardwalks after ten in the morning. Picnic pavilions can be reserved, restrooms are on site, and the whole park is built to be accessible. Parking is ten dollars a vehicle, or twenty dollars for the annual inlet parks pass, free for vehicles registered to disabled drivers and disabled veterans. The gate opens at six in the morning and closes between six and nine at night depending on the season, open every day of the year. The lighthouse and the Marine Science Center are both a short drive away
