Heritage Park & Gardens
Suwannee County · North Florida & First Coast
Live Oak's main in-town park, at 1004 Helvenston Street Southeast.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
It is run as a partnership between Suwannee County Parks and Recreation, the City of Live Oak, and a volunteer group called the Friends of Heritage Park and Gardens. The playground is split into two structures, one sized for children aged two to five and another for five to twelve, so the smaller children are not pushed off the equipment by bigger ones. The Abercrombie and Edwards Memorial Baseball Field has an artificial turf surface, which keeps it playable after the heavy summer rain that would close a dirt infield for days. A nine-hole disc golf course runs across the open ground. The Heritage Trail leads through a quiet wooded section for anyone who wants a walk rather than a game. Two picnic pavilions, each twenty feet by thirty, have grills, and either can be reserved for a two-hour block for forty dollars. Restrooms are on site. The parks office number is 386-362-3004. The park sits a few blocks from downtown Live Oak, close enough to walk from the courthouse square, and it is where the town holds its outdoor community events
