PARKS & OUTDOORS
Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park
Suwannee County · North Florida & First Coast
More than 800 acres on the Suwannee River near Live Oak, built around music and camping.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
Three miles of the river border the property. The park holds more than twenty-five events a year, and the names are familiar to anyone who follows live music in the Southeast: Suwannee Hulaween, Suwannee River Jam, Suwannee Roots Revival, Wanee, Brainquility, Purple Hatter's Ball, Suwannee Rising and the Suwannee Spring Reunion. Several stages are spread through the grounds, some in the open and some under the oaks. People stay on site rather than driving in and out. Camping runs from primitive tent sites to full recreational-vehicle hookups, and there are furnished park models for anyone who wants a roof and a bed. Two treehouses, the Spirit Treehouse and the Mother Tree, are rented out as lodging. Miles of trails run through the woods for walking, bicycles and horses, and horseback riding is offered on site. The grounds are open outside festival weekends as well, and day visitors and campers use the river frontage for paddling and fishing. Live Oak is a short drive south, and Interstate 75 and Interstate 10 both reach the area, which is part of why the festivals draw from several states at once
