PARKS & OUTDOORS
SunWest Park
Pasco County · Gulf Coast
A county park built around a 70-acre spring-fed lake in an old limestone quarry at Hudson, with a white sand beach and a cable wakeboard system.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
The lake here was a limestone mine. When the digging stopped, the pit filled with clear water and the county turned it into a park at 17362 Old Dixie Highway in Hudson, just off US 19. The lake covers about 70 acres and the shore was built up with white sand, which makes it look more like a Gulf beach than a quarry, and the water is a good deal clearer than the Gulf is along this stretch of coast. The Lift Adventure Park operates on the water under its own ticket, running a cable system that pulls wakeboarders around the lake without a boat, an inflatable obstacle course out in the water, and paddleboard rental. The beach, the swimming and the picnic ground are the county's side of it. Entry is by day pass or annual pass, card only. Pets, alcohol and grills are not permitted. Open daily from dawn to dusk
