FLORIDA PLACE TO EXPLORE
Snowcat Ridge
Pasco County · Gulf Coast
A winter-season snow park at Dade City with a 400-foot tubing hill under real snow, open from November into the new year.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
Snowcat Ridge opened in 2020 at 27839 Saint Joe Road in Dade City, on the same ground as the TreeHoppers ropes course, and calls itself Florida's first alpine snow park. The centerpiece is a tubing hill 60 feet high and 400 feet long, covered in real snow rather than a plastic substitute, with riders carried up and sent back down on inflatable tubes. The Arctic Igloo holds an ice skating surface under cover. Snow play areas are set aside for the thing most Florida children have never done, which is pick up a handful of snow, throw it at somebody and lie down in it. Fire pits around the Alpine Village are set up for marshmallows, and there is food and drink on site. It is strictly seasonal, running from November through the winter and closing for the rest of the year, so check the dates before driving out. Tickets are timed and sell out on cold weekends
