ABOUT THIS PLACE
The Osceola County Historical Society assembled the village at Babb Landing in Shingle Creek Regional Park, moving buildings onto the site rather than building copies. Seventeen structures stand there now, four of them original houses. The Cadman complex dates from about 1884. Colonel William Cadman's family came out to Narcoossee from England in 1888, and the bungalow, with its detached kitchen, bachelor quarters and a citrus packing plant from about 1890, was given to the society between 2005 and 2014. The Lanier House, from about 1899, is a dogtrot with a breezeway down the middle; Raymond Lanier bought it in 1905 and later served as county commissioner, and his family donated it in 1987. The Tyson House of 1892 is a single room, built by a son of James and Victoria Tyson, who had eleven children between 1890 and 1917. The Partin House from the early 1930s was the caretaker's cottage on a cattle ranch and now holds the gift shop
