Kissimmee Lakefront Park

Osceola County · Central Florida

Twenty-five acres of public waterfront on the north shore of Lake Tohopekaliga, a short walk from downtown Kissimmee.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

The park runs along the northwestern shore of Lake Toho beside the historic downtown, and it was rebuilt from the ground up over roughly a decade. Work ran in stages from 2006, with covered picnic areas, playgrounds, a stage, a new boat ramp and brick walkways finished in 2013, and a splash pad, more playgrounds and a boardwalk completed by January 2015. A nature trail of about 1.1 miles runs the length of it. There is a marina with fishing piers and a ramp giving access to the whole Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, which is why the parking lot is full of boat trailers most mornings. A small lighthouse opened to the public in July 1999 and works as a landmark for boats coming back in at dusk as well as a photograph for everyone else. The Monument of States stands next to the park, along with a veterans memorial and the Bataan-Corregidor memorial. Herons, egrets, alligators and turtles are ordinary sightings from the path
