The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island
Okaloosa County · Panhandle & Emerald Coast
Restaurants, shops and beach volleyball on the Gulf at Okaloosa Island, with the fishing pier at one end.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island, at 1450 Miracle Strip Parkway SE in Fort Walton Beach, is a beachfront strip of restaurants and shops with direct access to the sand, beach volleyball courts, and the Okaloosa Island Pier at one end. Walking it costs nothing; parking on the island is free. The pier at the end of it runs 1,270 feet into the Gulf and is run by a leaseholder who charges to go out on it. Beach access from the Boardwalk is direct, straight off the shops onto the sand, which is why families with small children use this stretch rather than a hotel beach further along. Volleyball courts sit on the sand beside it. The Gulfarium is a short walk west and Wild Willy's Adventure Zone is across the road, so the Boardwalk, the pier, the marine park and the amusement park form one cluster within a few hundred yards of each other, which matters on a day when the weather turns and you want an alternative inside walking distance
