ABOUT THIS PLACE
Big Kahuna's Water & Adventure Park at 1007 US Highway 98 East in Destin is a seasonal water park with slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and children's play areas, plus an adventure side with miniature golf and a Skycoaster ride. It opens for the summer season and closes for the winter. It opened in 1986 and carries more than forty attractions across the two sides. The Skycoaster stands a hundred feet high and swings riders at around sixty miles an hour. There is a half pipe for surfing and flow boarding, several thrill rides, and a miniature golf course. The original owners sold to Apex Park Group in 2014; after a restructuring the park is now run by Boomers Parks, which in 2022 put the Big Kahuna's name on a second park at West Berlin in New Jersey. The water side runs through the summer while the dry side keeps going longer. It sits on US Highway 98 in the middle of the Destin strip, so it is reachable on foot from a good many of the rental properties along that road
