Blocks of restored buildings in downtown Pensacola, from an 1805 French Creole house to an 1832 church, on one ticket good for a week.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

Historic Pensacola Village occupies several blocks of downtown and is run by the University of West Florida Historic Trust from 330 South Jefferson Street. Tours start at the Tivoli House, a reconstruction of an 1805 building put back in 1976 from old photographs and what the archaeologists found. The LaValle House of 1805 is French Creole, built while Spain held the town. Julee Cottage, also 1805, was the home of Julee Panton, a free woman of color. Old Christ Church of 1832 was used to stable Union horses during the Civil War. The Dorr House of 1871 is Greek Revival and the Lear-Rocheblave House of 1890 is Folk Victorian, and the Quinn and Barkley houses date from the early 1820s, when Florida had just become American. The T. T. Wentworth Jr. Florida State Museum stands in the same group, along with exhibits on commerce and industry. Archaeology on the site has turned up fortifications built between 1752 and 1821 and wells from the British period. One ticket covers the village museums, the Pensacola Museum of Art, the Pensacola Museum of History and the children's museum, plus guided house tours, and it stays valid for seven days. The village opens Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 4
