ABOUT THIS PLACE

The stadium seats around 7,500 and stands on eighty-two acres. A pedestrian concourse runs the full circle of the park, so a spectator can walk the whole way around without losing sight of the field, which older parks do not allow. There are hospitality suites, two outfield berms where people sit on the grass instead of in seats, children's play areas and an outfield bar. Practice fields stand behind the stadium and are worked through the spring. The Rays handle spring training tickets themselves rather than the county. Outside the season the county puts the park to use for tournaments, five-kilometer runs, corporate functions and other events, booked through the parks office on 941-235-5010, open weekdays from nine until five. The site adjoins Tippecanoe Environmental Park, which has walking trails, a boardwalk, a canoe and kayak launch and birding, so there is somewhere to walk within a few minutes of the gate
