Punta Gorda Harborwalk

Charlotte County · Gulf Coast

A paved waterfront path of 2.3 miles along the Punta Gorda shore of Charlotte Harbor.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

It runs from Trabue Park at the east end, an urban mangrove forest near the hospital with boardwalks and an observation deck over the Peace River, west to Fishermen's Village. Between those two ends it links five waterfront parks. Laishley Park is the largest, with the marina complex, a playground, a splash pad and seating, and a short flight of steps down to the water where people stand to watch for dolphins. Gilchrist Park covers eleven acres and has wide views over the harbor, a fishing pier, pickleball courts and a statue of Juan Ponce de Leon. Shreve Park and Pittman Park sit along the western section. The path passes under two harbor bridges and takes several right-angle turns where it follows the line of the seawall. Walkers and cyclists share it. The largest parking lot is at Laishley Park, with more at Gilchrist Park and the municipal marina. Where the Harborwalk ends, Linear Park begins at Retta Esplanade and carries on another mile through historic Punta Gorda
