An open-air shopping center of 141 stores facing the city pier, open since February 2008.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
Pier Park opened on February 14, 2008, and covers 895,974 square feet on a single level. It holds 141 stores, with Dillard's, JC Penney and Target as the anchors, and it is laid out as an outdoor complex rather than an enclosed mall: shops, restaurants and a movie theater arranged along streets you walk between. Simon Property Group holds the majority stake. It stands directly opposite the main entrance of the Russell-Fields City Pier, which is why the two names are always given together. The movie theater is the Grand 16, run by Santikos, with IMAX 3D and RealD 3D screens. Pier Park East is planned as an extension carrying more shops, an indoor family entertainment center, a hotel and homes, though ground has not been broken on it. A Topgolf venue and the Pirates Voyage dinner show were both set for the site. Being open to the sky rather than enclosed means the whole place works as a walk in the evening, and plenty of people who have no intention of shopping use it that way
