St. Mary Shoals Park

Baker County · North Florida & First Coast

A 2,568-acre county park on the St. Marys River, split between 25 miles of off-highway vehicle trail and 20 miles for horses and walkers.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

St. Marys Shoals Park runs to 2,568 acres with the St. Marys River along its northern boundary, and it gives the public access to nearly two miles of that tannin-stained water and the white sandy shores beside it. The park is divided by use and it matters which end you go to. The western section carries more than 25 miles of trail open to off-highway vehicles. The eastern section holds more than 20 miles of trail for horse riders and walkers, with some multi-use trail as well. People come to kayak, canoe, swim, wade, sunbathe, geocache, ride, hike and cycle, and there are pavilions with picnic tables and grills. Fishing is allowed anywhere along the banks of the river or Cedar Creek and in the ponds around the park. There is no camping and no hunting. A day pass is needed for a passenger vehicle, and a separate one for an off-highway vehicle
