Spanish River Park Beach
Palm Beach County · South Florida & the Keys
A Blue Flag beach with a lagoon, a bird observation area and sand volleyball, where organized youth groups may camp overnight.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
Spanish River Park is a Blue Flag beach in Boca Raton, and it is built around more than sand: a lagoon, a bird observation area, a nature trail, a canoe and kayak launch and sand volleyball courts. The unusual permission here is overnight camping, which the city allows for organized youth groups of six to fifty under-eighteens from recognized organizations such as the Scouts, at a pre-selected site. Family tent and trailer camping is not allowed, so the park is otherwise a day-use one, and group picnics over twenty-five people need to book one of the shelters. The address is 3001 North State Road A1A and the city lists the park at 94.4 acres; the number is 561-393-7815. It opens at eight in the morning and closes at sunset. Lifeguards are on duty all year, from nine until five in the winter months and nine until 6:30 in the summer. Swimming in the lagoon and the Intracoastal Waterway is not allowed. Smoking and alcohol are prohibited in city parks, pets are admitted only during designated dog beach hours, and fires are permitted only in self-contained charcoal units
