Red Reef Park Beach

Palm Beach County · South Florida & the Keys

Forty acres in Boca Raton with a snorkel trail of twenty artificial reefs laid just offshore.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

Red Reef Park runs to 39.7 acres, and the reason to choose it is under the water: an expanded snorkel trail built from a jetty running out from the beach and twenty artificial reefs placed just offshore to grow habitat. The city names the fish the reefs have drawn, among them sergeant majors, parrotfish, bar jacks, spottail pinfish and molly millers. Above the waterline there is a boardwalk, walking paths, a playground, picnic areas with grills and restrooms. The city gives the address as 1400 North Ocean Boulevard and describes the whole park as sixty-seven acres; the general number is 561-393-7815. A nine-hole golf course of 1,357 yards runs inside the park with views over the waterway, on 561-544-8547, which is an odd thing to find behind a beach. The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center stands just north across A1A with sea turtles and marine life on show, and most visitors treat the two as one outing
