Phipps Ocean Park Beach

Palm Beach County · South Florida & the Keys

Closed to the public until November 2026 while the park is rebuilt - the beach access and the south end are both shut.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

Phipps Ocean Park has been closed for reconstruction since May 1, 2025, and the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach says it stays closed to the public until November 2026. The beach is part of what is shut: the racquet center reopened for tennis and pickleball in November 2025, but the south end and the access to the sand remain closed. The work is led by the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach with the Town of Palm Beach, and it is a rebuild rather than a touch-up, taking in native ecosystem restoration across the barrier island, the relocation and repair of the Little Red Schoolhouse, and a new Coastal Restoration Center with an outdoor classroom, schoolyard garden and playground. Beach pavilions, lifeguard towers, bathrooms and walking paths are being rebuilt alongside them, fulfilling what the town describes as the intent of the Phipps family's 1948 gift. This is normally one of only two beaches the town guards, so until it reopens the guarded alternative is Mid-Town Municipal Beach
