Palm Island Resort sits on Knight Island, the north end of a chain with Don Pedro and Little Gasparilla islands that were once separated by narrow passes. There is no bridge: you take your car over on a car ferry, and once there most people get around by golf cart, bicycle or on foot. The beach on Knight Island is private, for people staying at the resort or in a rental home on the island. The resort has the Rum Bay restaurant, an ice cream shop, a small grocery and a gift shop. The public beach nearby is at Don Pedro Island State Park, reached by boat.
