The beach at Jetty Park is a longer walk than most, about half a mile from the entry gate to the boardwalk, along a walking path rather than the road. Lifeguards are on duty daily, the beach entrances are numbered, and entrance 2 has mobility mats laid across the sand. Beach wheelchairs are free but limited in number, carry a 350-pound weight limit and need photo identification and a signed form, so ask at the booth on the way in rather than once you are at the sand. On a busy day the beach reaches capacity, and only a pre-purchased day pass for that date guarantees entry, an annual pass does not. The wider park, its pier, campground and playground, is covered in the Jetty Park entry. The Canaveral Port Authority runs the park and the number is 321-783-7111. Gates are open daily from seven in the morning until nine at night and lifeguards work from ten until five. A beachside pavilion with restrooms and picnic tables has been added, and chairs and umbrellas are rented near beach entrance three. Cruise ships leaving Port Canaveral pass close enough that people on deck can be made out from the sand

GOOD TO KNOW

Pets are not allowed in the day park or on the beach. Trained service animals under the ADA are the only exception; therapy, comfort and emotional-support dogs are not permitted. Grilling is not allowed on the beach. No diving from the pier, and no swimming or floating in the inlet or channel.
