The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has three viewing areas: the lawn beside the Space Shuttle Atlantis building, about 7 miles from the pads and included with admission; the Banana Creek area at the Apollo/Saturn V Center, about 4 to 6 miles away and also included when that center is open; and the Gantry at LC-39, the closest at about 2 to 3 1/2 miles, sold in addition to admission. Outside the gates, the county's tourism office lists Playalinda Beach in Canaveral National Seashore, the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame in Titusville, the shores of the Indian River Lagoon, Jetty Park at Port Canaveral, the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier and the Cocoa Beach beaches, and Sebastian Inlet State Park. Whether the visitor complex opens a launch for viewing depends on the launch window, the pad, Space Force range safety and NASA approval, and each viewing opportunity is posted on its events calendar.
