Wild Florida Airboats & Gator Park
Osceola County · Central Florida
An airboat operation and animal park on Lake Cypress at Kenansville, about 45 minutes south of Orlando, with a four-mile drive-through safari.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
Wild Florida started in 2010 to keep one of the few remaining private tracts on Lake Cypress out of development. The lake is part of the Everglades headwaters, and the airboats run out across open marsh and cypress rather than a dredged canal, which is the difference between this and a ride nearer the highway. The boats are Coast Guard certified and tours run through the day and after dark. On land there are two more parts. The gator park holds over 200 animals, alligators among them but also zebras, sloths and lemurs, with a walk-in aviary where the birds land on visitors. The drive-through safari is four miles of dirt road across open pasture where native and exotic animals move loose around the car, and giraffes come to the window to be fed. The Chomp House Grill does barbecue and burgers. The address is 3301 Lake Cypress Road, Kenansville, open Monday to Saturday from nine until six
