Wynwood Walls

Miami-Dade County · South Florida & the Keys

An outdoor street art museum at 2516 Northwest 2nd Avenue, made out of the blank warehouse walls of the Wynwood district.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

It opened in 2009 and is curated by Jessica Goldman Srebnick. The idea was simple and it worked: a district of windowless warehouses has enormous quantities of flat wall, and those walls were given to artists. More than a hundred and thirty painters from over thirty countries have worked here since, across sixty-two thousand square feet of wall, using something like seventy-five thousand gallons of paint and more than a hundred thousand spray cans. The work is repainted over time, so the walls are not a fixed collection and a visit five years apart is a different visit. Over three million people a year come, and the arts district that grew up around it, with galleries, breweries and restaurants filling the other warehouses, followed from this one project. There are guided tours, an augmented reality layer and a venue for private events. Open daily from 10:30 in the morning until 6:30. The number is 305-576-3334
