The county art museum at 3001 Riverside Park Drive, founded in 1986.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

It started as the Center for the Arts, under an Alliance for the Arts formed in 1978, and took its present name in 2002. The building has grown three times: an expansion in 1999 that doubled it, the Alice and Jim Beckwith Sculpture Park in 2007, and a covered atrium with a twenty-thousand-square-foot exhibitions wing between 2011 and 2012. It now runs to 54,509 square feet on about seven and a half acres leased inside Riverside Park. The collection is built on American Modernism and on contemporary work from around the world, with recent acquisitions including pieces by Anish Kapoor, Bo Bartlett and Ana Gonzalez. The Museum Art School runs classes and workshops and added contemplative arts to the curriculum in 2014. The museum was accredited by the American Association of Museums in March 1997 and has been reaccredited since. It opens Monday to Saturday from ten until 4:30 and Sunday from one until four
