GARDENS & LANDSCAPES
Secret Gardens Winery & Farm
Highlands County · Central Florida
A family winery on 33 acres at Sebring making muscadine and fruit wines, with a tasting room and golden retrievers on the premises.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
Secret Gardens Winery and Farm is at 8222 West Josephine Road in Sebring, on 33 acres run by one family. The wines are muscadine and fruit wines rather than the grape varieties most people expect, which is the practical choice in Florida: muscadine is native to the southeast, handles the heat and humidity, and resists the diseases that kill European vines here. Visitors taste in the tasting room, walk the vineyard grounds, and are generally met by the golden retrievers that live on the place. Sangria is served alongside the wines. The farm side works as an event venue, with live music, markets and seasonal gatherings through the year, and farm-to-table dinners that are booked separately from ordinary tastings. Private events can be arranged. Bottles are sold at the door and a selection ships through a wine shipping service. It opens Wednesday through Saturday from 11 to 5 and Sunday from 11 to 4, closed Monday and Tuesday, though it closes for stretches during the year, so telephone before driving out
