Cannon Beach at John Pennekamp State Park

The snorkeling beach at America's first undersea park, at 102601 Overseas Highway in Key Largo. Artifacts from a 1715 Spanish shipwreck lie in the water about 100 feet out, put there to be looked at. The park is open 8 a.m. until sunset, 365 days a year, and entry is $8 a vehicle plus 50 cents a person. Glass-bottom boat trips, a visitor center with saltwater aquariums, camping, restrooms, showers and a cafe.
