10980 Heckscher Drive, and a beach you can drive onto - 5 miles an hour, four-wheel drive advised for the soft crossing, and at your own risk. $5 a vehicle for up to six people and $3 on foot or by bicycle, half price for active duty and veterans. Open 6:00am to 7:00pm from March to November and 6:00am to 6:00pm through the winter. Camping is $22.70 a night for a tent and $27.24 for a recreational vehicle. The north end of the peninsula closes to vehicles before Memorial Day and after Labor Day for nesting shorebirds, one of the largest seabird colonies on the east coast. Day visitors cannot bring dogs.
