How do Walt Disney World tickets work, and what can Florida residents buy?

Walt Disney World sells date-based tickets for one day or several days, and Florida residents can also buy resident tickets and Annual Passes.

Walt Disney World Resort has four theme parks: Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Disney says theme park reservations are no longer required for date-based tickets. The Park Hopper option lets you visit more than one park a day, at any time during park hours, after you enter your first park, if the next park has room.

Florida residents get their own ticket offers, such as discounted 3-day and 4-day tickets. These offers change, so check Disney's Florida resident page before you buy.

There are four Annual Passes. The Disney Pixie Dust Pass and the Disney Pirate Pass are for Florida residents only. The Disney Sorcerer Pass is for Florida residents and eligible Disney Vacation Club Members, and the Disney Incredi-Pass is open to all guests. The passes differ in blockout dates and in how many park reservations you can hold at once; passholders may need a reservation on some dates. Florida residents can pay for a pass in 12 monthly payments after a down payment. An eligible ticket can be upgraded to an Annual Pass, with what you paid applied to it, up to the last day you use the ticket.

Florida residents 18 or older need proof of residency to buy or use a resident ticket or pass. Disney accepts a valid Florida driver's license or Florida state ID card with a Florida address, or a Florida-based military ID. Without one, bring a picture ID and a document from the past 2 months showing your Florida address, such as a utility bill. P.O. boxes are not accepted.

Disney's passholder support and ticket upgrade line is 407-939-7277.
