Florida law lets anyone who lives here show it in writing with a Declaration of Domicile, a sworn statement filed with the clerk of the circuit court in the county where you live (section 222.17 of the Florida Statutes).
In it you say that you are a bona fide resident of Florida, and you give your Florida address, the city, county and state where you lived before, and any other homes you keep. If you keep a home in another state as well, you also declare that the Florida home is your main one and that you mean to keep it that way. It must be signed under oath before someone allowed to take affidavits, such as a notary. The clerk records it for a fee; in Miami-Dade it is $10 to record it and $3 for a certified copy, and Miami-Dade takes it in person or by mail. The declaration is one way of showing where you live, not the only one: the statute says it does not replace the other ways. The Florida driver license, the car registration and, on a home you own, the homestead exemption are answered on their own pages.
