Seacrest Wolf Preserve
Washington County · Panhandle & Emerald Coast
A wolf preserve at 3449 Bonnett Pond Road near Chipley, where visitors walk inside the habitats.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
It is a registered nonprofit charity, and it is not a zoo. Visitors do not look through a fence. On a tour you go into the habitats, walk with the wolves, touch them and take part in a group howl, with handlers explaining what the animals are doing and why. The ground is sand and grass and it gets muddy, so wear shoes you do not mind ruining. Tours are private and by reservation only, Monday through Saturday, closed Sundays and some holidays. They run rain or shine, and they stop only for severe weather or lightning. The office answers from nine in the morning until four, Central time, which is worth remembering because Washington County runs an hour behind most of Florida. Book by telephone at 850-773-2897 or online. The stated purpose is conservation and education rather than entertainment, and the tour is built that way, so it runs long and it is not a walk-up attraction. Plan it before you drive to Chipley
