Lakeside Park

Union County · North Florida & First Coast

Six acres of waterfront at 155 Northwest 3rd Street, and the reason most visitors stop in Lake Butler.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

A U-shaped concrete fishing dock runs out over the water, far enough to clear the shallows. A public ramp launches boats and kayaks. There is a swimming beach on the freshwater lake with a marked swim area, which is uncommon in a state where most public swimming is in springs or salt water. A splash pad sits beside a soft white sand play zone with slides, and a shaded playground stands next to it. Picnic pavilions with grills and tables are open to use or can be reserved. A wide sidewalk rings the park and is built for wheelchairs and walkers. Paddleboards can be rented on site through an automated dock. The fishing is bass, bluegill, catfish and crappie. Sandhill cranes, great blue herons and Muscovy ducks are on the water most days. The Hal Y. Maines Community Center on the grounds can be booked for events, a full day or a half day. The park is open from sunrise to sunset every day and there is no charge. The city parks office answers at 386-496-3401
