FLORIDA PLACE TO EXPLORE
Tradition Square
St. Lucie County · Atlantic Coast
The town square of Tradition in western Port St. Lucie, a green with a town hall, a fountain and a Sunday market on it.
ABOUT THIS PLACE
Tradition is a master-planned community on the western edge of Port St. Lucie, and Tradition Square is the center it was built around. The design is deliberately old-fashioned: an open green lawn, an old-style town hall building at one end, an interactive fountain, and a lake behind, with shops and restaurants facing the square so people arrive on foot rather than parking outside a single store. The Landing at Tradition, the shopping center behind it, runs to about 600,000 square feet and holds the large chains, with restaurants around the square itself. The Sunday green market brings local growers and makers onto the lawn every week. Through the year the square carries a Taste of Italy festival each January, food truck Fridays once a month and a winter celebration. It is a planned place rather than an old one, and it works as somewhere to spend an evening with children
