FLORIDA PLACE TO EXPLORE

St. Augustine Distillery

St. Johns County · Atlantic Coast

A craft distillery in a 1917 ice plant in Lincolnville, with a free self-guided tour and tasting every day.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

The building at 112 Riberia Street was the city's ice plant, put up in 1917 when ice was a serious industry, and it stood empty for years before the distillery took it on. What comes out of it now is made from Florida ingredients: Florida Straight Bourbon and a port-finished version of it, pot-distilled rum, New World Gin and a vodka made from Florida sugar cane. The tour is self-guided and costs nothing, running daily from 10:30 in the morning to 5:30, with no booking needed, and it ends with samples of four cocktails made from what is produced on site. A fill-your-own-bottle station lets visitors draw cask-strength bourbon and label it themselves. The retail shop opens from ten to six. The Ice Plant Bar operates upstairs in the same building. A physical unexpired photo identification is required for tasting. Lincolnville around it is the historically Black neighborhood of St. Augustine and worth the walk on its own
