ABOUT THIS PLACE
Drivers on Interstate 95 see the ballfields and assume that is all there is. Behind them the ground runs down to the South Fork of the St. Lucie River through pine and oak. The mountain bike trail covers seven and a half miles in twelve separate segments of differing difficulty, and riders should carry a map because several junctions are unmarked; helmets are required. The South Fork Nature Trail joins two path systems along the river, one easy and one rougher. From the launch, the St. Lucie Spur paddling route runs three and six-tenths miles down the South Fork, seven and two-tenths there and back. A primitive campsite can be reached on foot or by boat. The built side has ball fields, tennis and pickleball courts, disc golf and a roller hockey rink, with restrooms at the trailhead and the fields.
