Santos Trailhead and Campground

Marion County · Central Florida

The main access to the Santos mountain bike trails at 3080 Southeast 80th Street, on the Cross Florida Greenway between Ocala and Belleview.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

About twenty miles of singletrack run through the Santos and Vortex sections here, connecting to more than eighty further miles along the Greenway, and the Ocala Mountain Bike Association built and still maintains the network. Trails are graded by color, yellow for beginners, blue for intermediate and red for advanced, so a family and a serious rider can start from the same parking lot and part company at the first junction. Pine Tree Trail is the beginner loop at two and eight-tenths miles. Sinkhole Trail covers one and seven-tenths miles over exposed limestone with steep drops into old quarry pits. The Vortex section sits in a worked-out limerock quarry and holds dirt jumps, a pump track and drops built for riders who want them. Helmets are required. There are restrooms, picnic areas, bike wash stations and a campground. Entry is free, gates run eight until sunset, and riding the trails wet damages them
