PARKS & OUTDOORS

KP Hole Park

Marion County · Central Florida

The county park on the Rainbow River at 9435 Southwest 190th Avenue Road, Dunnellon, and the main launch point for tubing it.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

Marion County has run it since 1993 and it is dedicated to Andrew L. Neville. The river holds at seventy-two degrees the year round and is designated both an Outstanding Florida Water and a National Natural Landmark, so the rules here are stricter than at an ordinary swimming park: no disposable containers and no alcohol are allowed on the water, and pets may not come into the park, though they can be loaded into your own boat at the ramp. Tubing runs from the first of April to the thirtieth of September only. Tubes are rented between eight in the morning and 12:45, or until the daily limit is reached, and the float down to the take-out takes about four hours with a shuttle bringing people back from Blue Run of Dunnellon Park. The minimum age for a tube is three. Boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming and scuba diving are all permitted. Summer hours are eight until eight, winter eight until five
