WATER & COAST

Spring Creek Park

Jackson County · Panhandle & Emerald Coast

A small put-in on Spring Creek south of Marianna, used mainly by people getting onto the water.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

There is a modest parking area on the south side of the road and a shaded boardwalk down to the creek, and that is essentially the whole of it: this is an access point rather than a park with facilities. What it gives you is the water. Spring Creek runs clear and cool because it is spring-fed rather than rain-fed, which in this county is the usual arrangement and the reason the creeks stay cold through August. Tubing, rafting and kayaking all start here. It is about two miles down the creek to the Chipola River and another two from there to Magnolia Point, which comes to roughly four hours of unhurried paddling for the whole run, so a shuttle or a second car at the far end is worth arranging. The sources read give no hours, no fee and no facilities list for the park itself, so none is claimed here
