ABOUT THIS PLACE
Otter Springs Park and Campground is a Gilchrist County park at 6470 Southwest 80th Avenue, Trenton. A second-magnitude spring sits in the picnic area, and hiking trails and boardwalk run from the campground down to the Suwannee River. What makes this park different from the other spring parks in the county is the heated swimming pool, which runs the year round, so winter visitors who find the spring too cold still have somewhere to swim. That is a large part of why the campground fills up with long-stay visitors in the cooler months. There are over 100 campsites with electric, water and sewer hookups, separate tent sites and four cabins. A recreation hall and open facilities take reunions, weddings and meetings, and there is a basketball court and a volleyball net. Canoeing and fishing are both possible from the park. It is run by the county rather than privately, with its own park manager, and it works as a base for people wanting to reach the springs along the Suwannee and the Santa Fe
