Pat Thomas Park at Hopkins Landing

Gadsden County · Panhandle & Emerald Coast

A county campground and boat ramp on Lake Talquin, on a lake known across Florida for bass and crappie.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

Pat Thomas Park, which older maps and local people still call Hopkins Landing, sits on the shore of Lake Talquin at 949 Hopkins Landing Road near Quincy. It is a Gadsden County park and it is built around the water. There is a boat ramp, a fishing pier and easy kayak access, and Lake Talquin is well known across the state for bass, crappie, bluegill and bream, which is why boats come off trailers here at first light. The campground takes recreational vehicles and tents, with water and electric hookups, fire pits and shower facilities, and pets are welcome. For day visitors there is a playground, a picnic pavilion and clean restrooms. The park borders the Lake Talquin Wildlife Management Area, over 3,000 acres of public land, so hiking, cycling and bird watching are all within reach without getting back in the car. It is a working fishing park rather than a resort, which is what people who come here want from it
